Workshop17, Work Where Life Happens

For far too long work has come with long commutes, rigid office hours, and the balance of shifting between life and work, but no more, work is now very much part of our everyday life.

Professionals are tapping into the model of mixed used spaces that advocate for human-scale environments where workspaces and lifestyle coexist side by side, supporting not just efficiency but genuine quality of life.

Our workshop17’s spaces are located in residential-adjacent nodes that offer flexible, high-grade workspaces with walkable access to daily amenities, so people can do focused work, run errands, pick up the kids, train, meet friends, and get home on time. What makes this model particularly compelling for business owners and professionals is the combination of convenience and quality.

We asked a few members who live this ethos on the daily and enjoy the spaces that integrate life and work so seamlessly into their everyday lives.

Workshop17 Century City

Working where life happens isn’t just our new favourite phrase; it’s something our members live by every day. Tiffany Leitch, a Senior Associate at Standish in Century City shares that her team keeps things moving, literally. Mornings kick off with a game of padel at Padel365, running, cricket, and 5-a-side soccer take over the afternoons. “We even made it to the league semi-finals,” she laughs.

Sport aside, the team connects in smaller moments too, like coffee breaks in our café, window shopping at Canal Walk, and a lively WhatsApp group where the team shares photos and laughs.

“All these moments create a healthy work-life rhythm,” adds Tiffany.

Location matters; Tiffany appreciates that “everything feels within reach. The traffic is far kinder than in town, the environment less rushed, and the nearby park is perfect for a quick reset.”

Workshop17 Ballito

Dina Crichton who works for Green Meets Africa, says the biggest perk of the location is the lifestyle and sense of community.

“Living so close to the ocean, with beautiful surroundings, great weather, and everything easily accessible, makes it easier to find balance” she responds.

She switches off after a long day with a swim training session alongside her team, or by picking up her three girls for a spontaneous beach trip. Swimming gear is always in the car, just in case there’s a sudden need to jump into the ocean.

When Dina needs a quick reset during the day, a walk along the promenade and some fresh air always does the trick. It’s this seamless mix of work and life that makes every day at Workshop17 Ballito feel a little brighter.

Workshop17 Newlands Cricket Ground

Bilqees Sait, a Data Analyst for PATTRNS loves living just 10 minutes from the office, which means she skips the Cape Town commute chaos entirely. Flexibility is key; coming in twice a week gives her the best of both worlds, office community and focused time at home.

“Planning is my ultimate work-life cheat code,” she shares.

“If you know exactly what needs to get done, you can get it done and still have time for the things you actually want to do after hours.” And when the week gets hectic, it’s the little traditions that keep everyone sane. “Team lunch every Tuesday,” Bilqees smiles. “No agendas, just good food and good laughs. A perfect way to reset before the second half of the week.”

Workshop17 Firestation

Cara Woods, a Sales Account Executive at Tractor Outdoor, says the team keeps morale high during busy weeks by grabbing coffee in the internal café and catching up in the lounge.

It’s a chance to check in without it feeling like a meeting.

Lunch is all about choice, soak up the sun on the balcony couches or grab a quick bite nearby. And when Cara wants something tasty, her favourite spot, Soul Souvlaki, is just steps from the office. Overall, Cara feels spoiled to be so centrally located, with so many great spots just steps from the office.
